Teaching and Workshops

Couple of Mugs

UPDATE: I’ll be teaching a one-off workshop in Castlemaine on the 20th August 2018

Corner Store Merchants and Melbourne ceramicist Katie Jacobs are thrilled to be running ‘A Couple of Mugs’ workshop. Come join us on August 20th and build a cup or mug or two for Fathers Day in mind or perhaps create something special for your perfect winter beverage.

I (Katie Jacobs) will help guide participants through hand building or press-molding a mug and making it look just right for that hard to buy for Dad (or mum) this Fathers Day.

Class includes materials, firing costs, and all the knowledge I can throw at you!

Cost: $60 per person or $100 for two

Age group: 15+

Date: 20th August

Time: 1-3pm

Location: 220 Barker Street Castlemaine

What to Bring: An apron might be handy and a drink bottle

No ceramic experience needed, beginners welcome

For bookings or more information call Corner Store Merchants on 03 54 706 639 or send them an email at hello@cornerstoremerchants.com

I will guide students through basic designing and clay construction processes including pinch forming and press-molding. You will make and decorate 2 cups or mugs with coloured slips. I will fire and glaze your work at my studio, with completed functional mugs available to pick up at Corner Store Merchants following the workshops.

I teach adult ceramic classes from my studio in Fairfield. I take small classes with a maximum of 8 students so there is enough time for questions, individual learning, and humorous digression. Classes are generally suitable for beginners or the experienced, and teens are welcome. Please email me at mskatiejacobs@gmail.com to hear about upcoming workshops.

I teach children’s classes at the wonderful Slow Clay Centre in Collingwood on Wednesday afternoons.

I teach adult classes (16+) at the lovely Manningham Arts Studios on Tuesday mornings, and children’s classes on Mondays and Tuesday afternoons.
